Sustainability

We think it is particularly important that our chocolate is grown sustainable. For us, sustainable renovation means that this goes much further than just 'fair trade'. Of course 'fair trade' (a fair price) is very important, but not nearly enough. 

Our honest and high-quality chocolate is supplied by Barry Callebaut in collaboration with the Cocoa Horizons Foundation. As a partner of the Cocoa Horizons Foundation program, we help improve the livelihood of thousands of cocoa farmers and their families.  

This initiative has major benefits for cocoa farmers and their families in West African countries such as Ivory Coast and Ghana. Our chocolate is grown using sustainable technologies, cocoa farmers receive a fair income and opportunities are created for women. The fight against child labor is also of huge importance. The farmers also have access to training programs, financial premiums and agricultural tools. 

Through our participation as a partner of the Cocoa Horizons Foundation, you as a customer are assured that Van der Burgh Chocolaad cooperates on sustainable obtained chocolate.
